Middle Office Specialist

Job Overview

We are a hyper-growth startup in one of the most dynamic industries today. We are looking for a Middle Office Specialist who has expertise in middle office capacity in traditional financial markets or in the crypto space. The individual must easily adapt to the entrepreneurial, varied and highly dynamic nature of a startup business. In this role you will work closely with the traders and the rest of the operations department.

Responsibilities

• Reconciliation – resolving position breaks, cash breaks and reconciling monthly cash flows
• Trade settlement – communicating with trading counterparties to ensure timely and accurate settlements
• Loan management – optimisation of loan management and cost of loans, setting up new loans and lenders
• Process improvement – working with developers to help automate processes or design ways to streamline current processes
• Work with legal/finance/compliance to proactively identify and act on regulatory and compliance implications across multiple products and jurisdictions
• Answering trade queries internally and externally

Hard skills requirements

• BSc in business/finance/quant
• 2+ years of experience in Middle Office/Trade Operations function in a financial services company with high-volume and complex operations (multiple products, multiple geographies, financial regulations); experience in an hft/market making business is a significant advantage
• Excellent Excel skills; experience with databases/SQL/reading and writing simple Python scripts would be a significant advantage
• Experience in process improvement
• Strong interest in trading, curiosity in blockchain, crypto and DeFi
• We prefer Singapore candidates who have PR or citizenship

• Owner mentality: take ownership of tasks and projects. A drive to understand the business beyond own role to add value to the overall business
• Keen to learn the different areas of Middle Office; you should be comfortable working in a very non-hierarchical organization without necessarily having direct reports
• Determination, ambition yet humility; ability to both influence others and listen/learn from others
• Like meritocracy and being judged by what you deliver
• Drive to do whatever it takes to get things done; ability to find creative yet highly professional and compliant solutions to complex tasks
• Have an entrepreneurial mindset; prepared to work non-standard working hours when necessary (since we are a high-growth startup operating in 24/7 crypto world)
• Like working in the team environment working from our Singapore office (as much as Covid limitations allow)
