Blockstars (https://blockstars.gg) is looking for a self-starting Principal Software Engineer to join the team. You would be working with gaming & entertainment industry veterans creating the first management simulation game on the blockchain. Qualified candidates need to be self-starters, possess strong communication skills, operate efficiently in a highly dynamic environment, and have a history of delivering positive high-impact results.
This position can either be a full-time role or a long-term contract, and is fully distributed / remote (as long as you are able to work continental USA hours).

Responsibilities
Provide technical mentorship and leadership for individual contributors on the engineering team. Own primary responsibility for effective execution and timely delivery of technical initiatives critical to our success. Analyze and recommend improvements to internal processes and systems to increase efficiency and reliability of all aspects of the Blockstars game. Establish good working relationships and trust across non-engineering disciplines on the team.
Requirements:
7+ years in software development (mobile or game development experience is ideal) Experience architecting and implementing customer-facing game systems, user interfaces, REST services, third-party integrations, tools, etc. in previous full-stack roles. Demonstrated leadership experience as a Team Lead, Tech Lead, or Architect in previous roles. Experience debugging and optimizing live applications to improve user experience and drive measurable improvements to core metrics. Proven problem-solving abilities and discerning application of software engineering best practices (e.g. design patterns, process improvements, test frameworks, CI systems, etc.). Experience designing performant schema & queries for databases (e.g. PostgreSQL) and / or architecting systems using high-scalability datastores. Existing experience with Rust, C / C++, Node.JS, TypeScript, Heroku, and / or AWS preferred.
Nice to Haves
Prior experience working in a fast-paced start-up environment. Prior experience working in a fully distributed / remote environment. Knowledge of the Solana blockchain ecosystem & key communities.
